Privacy Policy
Last updated October 30, 2026
This policy explains what Altuzar.dev (“Margin”, “we”) collects when you use the Margin apps for iOS, Android and the web and the website at https://margin.altuzar.dev, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal information and we don't show third-party ads.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and name, or the identifier Apple or Google shares when you sign in with them (Apple may share a private relay email).
- Study profile: the exam you're preparing for, exam date, study goals, confidence ratings, quick-check answers and other onboarding answers.
- Study activity: answers, flashcard ratings, timing, flagged and reported questions, and sessions.
- Materials: notes, PDFs, photos or text you upload or paste so we can generate questions and flashcards for you.
- Tutor conversations: messages you send to the AI tutor and its replies.
- Support messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: app version, device type, operating system, language, time zone, crash reports and feature usage events.
- Push token if you enable study reminders.
Payments
Purchases in the iOS and Android apps are processed by Apple and Google. Web purchases are processed by Stripe through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (plan, renewal and expiry dates) but never your full card number.
How we use it
- To provide Margin: personalize your plan, compute readiness, schedule reviews, and generate questions and flashcards.
- To run the AI tutor and process your materials.
- To manage your subscription and restore purchases across devices.
- To send study reminders you opted into, and essential account emails such as sign-in codes and trial reminders.
- To keep Margin secure, prevent abuse, fix bugs and improve features.
Your materials and tutor messages are used to generate content for you. We do not use them to build products for other customers, and we instruct our AI providers not to train their models on your data.
Service providers we share data with
We share data only with providers that help us run Margin, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Convex — application database, file storage and backend functions.
- AI providers (Anthropic and/or OpenAI) — to generate questions, flashcards, summaries and tutor replies from the content you provide.
- RevenueCat, Apple, Google and Stripe — subscriptions and payments.
- Resend — sign-in codes and account email.
- PostHog — product analytics. Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Expo — delivering push notifications you enable.
- Netlify — hosting our website and web app.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and Margin.
Offline storage on your device
To let you study offline, the app stores a copy of your study pack (questions, flashcards and progress) on your device for up to 30 days, and keeps your sign-in in the device's secure storage. Signing out removes it.
How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, study activity, materials and tutor conversations within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records (for example, transaction records) to meet legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time in the app: Settings → Delete account.
- Delete individual materials and tutor chats from inside the app.
- Turn reminders off in Settings or your device settings.
- Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under the GDPR and California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email support@altuzar.dev and we'll respond within the time the law requires.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), legitimate interests (security and improvement), and consent (optional reminders and analytics where required).
Children
Margin is not directed to children under 13, and in the EEA/UK to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, sign-in tokens are kept in your device's secure storage, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password if you use one.
Changes
We'll post changes here and update the date above. If changes are significant, we'll notify you in the app or by email.
